Poems Past
I go through poems past with longing heart
The words revive my heart though far apart
from poets who have crossed through veil of death.
Unknown to them, their love still gives me breath
I read and wonder where my friends have gone
Their poems still remain, but what went wrong?
Why are they silent, why did friendship die?
I write to them and ask the question why
I feel again the love between the lines
The little tell tale clues, the little signs
That speak of hidden romance soon to bloom,
yet withered are the words now, filled with gloom
So much has changed, so much remains the same
Some words are laced with laughter, some with pain,
and though nostalgia offers me a kiss,
I know that there are those I'll always miss
But you are here, a constant in my life
We've been through times of joy and times of strife
Your presence lingers still and soothes my soul
The poems that you write? They make me whole.
