Poem In the Dark
Scraps of paper crunched up and tossed
Pens and pencils laid down to rest
So tired was I, couldn’t do my best
The night was just a total loss.
Blew out the candle which gave me hope
But each line I wrote came to a halt
Was not in the mood, my mind was at fault
For the best of me I could not cope.
My eyes dropping, tired and sore
Each thought I had died before written
All that I wrote was only a smitten
I sat the table, I could do no more.
Rising up my head, from a fallen sleep
It was 2am, no poem to show
My pen and pencil were gone, Oh No!
Papers were ripped up, I wanted to keep.
Found a note placed under the candle
‘We wrote you a poem, hope you like”
‘We didn’t leave to take a hike”
“Been with you so long, we know your handle”
“We’re both very different, pleasant and rude”
“I am ink, I’ll warm your heart”
“I am lead, sorry, I just had to fart”
“But we left you a poem just for you dude”.
Love is kind, sometimes blind
Eyes seek when words speak
In our hearts, feelings felt
Affection taken, which was dealt
Our minds share, always care
Always together, now and forever
