Please Do Not Turn Off the Light

Please do not turn off the light
I’m thinking that perhaps you might
Just leave it on so I can see
Although it’s really not for me

It’s hard to see when it is dark
And I don’t want the dog to bark
So leave it on so he can see
And that will be ok with me

Then after I have counted sheep
And when at last I’m fast asleep
Turn off my light before you go
And if it’s dark, I will not know.

Very interesting, and read in a jazzy way.

Very deep. On the surface one could say, a lover leaving...but, on a deeper note, one could say, as one passing calmly from one wonderfully mysterious life to another. I think this is a favorite for me.

thank you, although I had a child in mind when I wrote it! I must say that your interpretation is quite insightful
