Playing With Heartstrings

The earth, she trembles tonight as the Gods stare down at the destruction caused by the fates who dared play with the heartstrings of love, the two lovers who were said to be so envied betrayed by faith to their God by bigots in his congregation and she watches as he then walks away. Pulling her own heart farther from her the strings stretched out between them her faith disintegrating by his last words but this love played by the fates, was perennial but now too, it is only her prison yes, now it is only her prison. And the earth is still trembling from the aftermath of such self destruction and the Gods can only watch this destruction they have caused love and lover "Deny me the truth from your lips" kissing lips of blasphemy just to keep herself alive. Or so she says, and she can feel the earth trembling only to remember it is her.

I like the idea of it: How we are not even in control. How everything is laid out. Sometimes you're the player; sometimes you get played. You can't hate the player, you gotta hate the game—the gods of fate. Then you gotta hate yourself for being weak.
