Playing With Forms and Breaking the Norms

Playing with Forms while Breaking the Norms

Debuncking it
Slam duncking it
Saying “the old is gold”
ain’t nothing but junking it
“new is true blue” is cool a way of funking it
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To argue that there is one better form
is to express your preference for a norm
Yet free expression is the soul’s delight
It matters not if it’s considered “right”!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Various garments
Beautify the human form~~
Poems follow suit
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To copy well the Bard, this verse I write
Pentameter delight in every line
For poems come to life in rhythmic bursts
A soul can truly thrive in metered bliss
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
People are perplexed about poetic perfection:
forms frustrate!
Lauding laureates,
each writer rightly responds
To testimony of time
from past to present
The wonder of words defies
Limitations! Configurations! Stipulations!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I write because if I don’t
I’ll die
My little words
My little rhymes
in no way profound
flutter about forlorn
waiting to be welcomed in
to find a home
in some welcoming heart,
my grief and pain
my joy and laughter
will resonate
will live
will be treasured
I write what I please
my melancholy muse, I amuse
Afflatus caressed
I express
the many lives I live
and in my lines
in my little groupings of thoughts
I am free
Unbound….
I am  me
A lovely poem proving that a poem need not necessarily stick to one form:) you're amazing, Eileen:)
It does my heart good to know that, Richard. Thank you. I hope that before my time has come, I will be able to have some of my little poems published. Nice to leave a little something behind. Hope you are well. Blessings.
I can write in different forms, but that does not make me a poet! I believe that every writer has a way/style of expression wherein s/he feels free and comfortable. Then it is the reader who will decide if he likes or not what's written. May Eileen stick to writing like Eileen:) Hugs // paul
:) Thank you, my dear collaborator. I like to try my wings now and again, but I do love writing sonnets. Iambic pentameter may be old school, but it comes easy to me. You are very talented, and well you know that. It's been a privilege to collab with you many times. Hugs
