Pigeons Ascent

Adventure awaits, my feathered little friend.
Never will I know the distance you have flown.
Though sorrow fills my heart watching you ascend,
I know it won't be long before you are home.
You'll be on my mind from the start to the end.
Will you join other pigeons or fly alone?
Until I see you back here comfy one day,
My hope little fellow is that safe you'll stay.

Not as prettty as seagulls, but just as hard working, right? Your last line is especially sweet. If only the pigeon knew he had such a caring friend like you. I know very little about pigeons only that one turned up where we live a few weeks ago and stayed for about 6 days. So I was thinking about that lone pigeon and their owner ... Lol it's bizarre sometimes what inspires poems but it's fun too. Glad you enjoyed the poem :-D
