Notes About The Poem

Pieces of a Heart

Pieces Of A Heart

It happens each and every time
before my love is even done.
I look and wait and watch and see
as they take their love and run.

So madly is the love that's felt
right from the very start.
Too soon bored with me it seems
and the pieces of my heart.

For shattered just like glass it was
so many times before.
I tried and cried but can't deny
I can't be loved no more.

Broken far too often
and broken far too much.
When it comes to love another
I'm frightened by their touch.

Still I try to let them be
and let them see inside me.
That's the time I look around
to find them not beside me.

What good are dreams to dreamers
who's dreams are torn apart.
And what good am I
with just pieces of a heart.
