Pieces
Three times, I stared it in the face and every time it laughs at me.
It fleas, only to reappear at the mere sign of loneliness.
At best a way to stay busy or even just a test of our weakness.
It breaks me down bit by bit as it blows thru town. I try to keep it together,
but fail miserably ever time. Like a star that shines so bright at first,
only to then flicker away without offering the slightest sign.
I sit and pine for awhile about it, then brace my mind for worse to come.
Shattered pieces of my self mirrored a smiling face as the rest of my body
hummed dismal jingles. I decide just to mingle through it,
but it’s a battle to tough. Then I hear it, love, it whispers a scream at me,
ENOUGH!
