Pick and Choose

Don't pick and choose your words
Careful of the message
Trying to strike the right balance
Making sure everyone's satisfied
I'm beyond all that
I'm in my happy place
Where love has a pretty face
Undefined
No contours or lines
Just a mystery
You're part of my history
But I'm in the now


Don't pick and choose your words
Terms of endearment gone
New nuances and rhymes
Feelings sublime
It's fine


Don't pick and choose your words
It's all good
It's understood
My smile is real
My heart can feel
The truth can be sweet
a welcome treat

Don't pick and choose your words
Just let them flow
Sweet and low
in sparkling glow
lighting where they will
Here's the thrill
I'm alright
My inner light is on
The pain is gone
It's fine!

Don't pick and choose your words
Pick and choose your love
everything else
is just
words

Timothy Hicks Date: 1/4/2015 12:59:00 AM Your last stanza gave me pause - I think I know where you're coming from. Depending on who's company we keep we naturally have to pick our words carefully so as not to offend that particular person... but putting on different masks is a lot of work, and the sign of a true friend is one who takes ALL your words; all of YOU. It's better to decide where our heart and loyalty lies, than to split in in two, so as to be yoked to two different things. Login to Reply
