Phoenix Rising

PHOENIX RISING like eagles flight from earth to sky transcending heavens aura regenerated by nimbus light
obtain new life-- reborn to never die
renewing time and suns realm consecrating ‘raptured’ paradise crested feathers crown golden mould
sapphire eyes beneath seven rays overwhelm
disambiguous in flighted sphere removing obstacles and mortality we beg and plead to understand
how you rise above your predecessors spear © Kim van Breda—February 2014

I can't stop reading your poetry. What a pleasant discovery. This one is enigmatic, wrapped in near complete description--for we are lacking in specifics--yet so enticing as to prompt continued deep reflection. Thank you so much.

Thank you Mark. Yes.. I was inspired by all the mythology and different interpretations through different cultures of this bird and the way it epitomizes overcoming obstacles to rise back into the light again. Nice to have connected with you tonight.

Thank you to you all for your encouraging comments-- always appreciated ( and needed). This topic "Phoenix Rising" is actually for a short story competition . I thought I would try a story, but ended up writing a poem instead !!! Still want to give it a bash though--- has to be 2 500- words. Anyone got a good story plot idea for me? :0)

Got me on the 'correct' answer to that Richard, but my interpretation of the myth of the Phoenix is that it has a resurrected life from the ashes of death every time. So, predecessors... if enemies, would ultimately lose the battle even in the death of the Phoenix.
