Phantom Cemetery

Here lies the peace you seek,
always in loss, always remembering,
a jog in time,
a partial feeling that intensifies
upon reflection; there's a
virgin editor to build upon a tower
of despair and hopelessness.

There its shining crown takes in
nuances--riches of a treasureset
in paradox--choice gains in heartache,
sacrifice, nostalgia--all the negatives
that call forth wondering at the
entanglements that churn within,
a curious irony that makes us whole.

Who may stand such wondering?
Who indeed may understand
the complex interchange of joys
and sorrows on the rim of consciousness
that daily make us what we are.

What we are!
Ah, that is where excitement
reigns, for the uncovering
is pure adventure...to fill
the years (the days) we have
to follow that discovery, a time
our very own to breathe again,
to write upon its pages that
which even you and I
cannot yet see.

Take my hand.
