Pet Hate
It’s a bit like playing monopoly as we don’t start in prison
Little people of all kinds of colour begin at the same position
Not the jail of our own mind
Difficult to buy a house at the grocer or a bible in a **** shop
In a pawn shop maybe and quite cheap at the point of departure
Yet rational arguments fail or prevail
Horse meat at a butcher maybe marinated dog or pickled cat
But we may beg to differ what etiquette and nutrition advises
Pigs do not fly unless inflated by reason
We cannot thread a camel through the eye of a needle
Unless we agree on the size of the hole and of the beast
Opinions differ from logic
I dislike folks who will not engage in meaningful dialogue
Who want to be right at all heavy cost whatever it takes
More than spiders and lions I fear self-righteousness
A valid argument starts from an agreed upon premise
Weaves a rational path and offers a valid conclusion
But people spin their own irrelevant yarn
If we follow directions from an incorrect outset
Navigation leads us into the jungle of fierce wilderness
Careful calibration avoids falsification
I like people and pets as much as vegetation and books
Bought the Kama Sutra at an antiques dealer and love it
But I hate with a vengeance false premises
I do not mind whether you eat scorpions or live in a mud hut
But if you wish to share your thoughts and experiences with me
I need to know where you start and what line you tow
