Notes About The Poem

Peruvian Lily

clad in muted shades
of apricot, streaked in pink,
speckled russet-brown
a floriferous delight...
alas, of fragrance deprived!

Paul, such an exquisite poem. Like some people, the Peruvian lily is a beauty to behold but lacks that certain 'je ne sais quoi' that is so alluring.. A captivating and delightful poem my friend.. Warmest wishes to you.. ~Susan

The Peruvian Lily is truly beautiful, Susan...pity the picture is momentarily hidden. In fact it was the picture which inspired this poem. Once again, I thank you for the lovely comments. Warm regards ~ paul

One never knows what, if anything lies beneath a pretty exterior and your words, very succinctly, portray this splendidly. Beautiful writing Paul, a joy to read:)

Ah this is such a breath of freshness - I love Lillies but have never seen this variety - your descriptive tanka is as fresh and descriptive of the picture. Good luck with the contest...Maria
