Persecuted and Tried
Persecuted and tried
Before a world who loves a lie
Truth does not have a place
As many reject Amazing grace
Standing on God's holy word
Scolded by a wicked world
Manipulation is their game
As they mock God's Holy Name
In their anger, they provoke
Many calling scripture a joke
A messenger of God at their mercy
Among a world who is sin thirsty
You should not judge they shout
Twisting and turning scripture about
The church standing lukewarm
Fearing a wicked world to do harm
The righteous are rejected
Our message abused and neglected
Many become martyrs, many starved
Many wearing battle scars
It becomes hard to stand alone
Friends forsake, family turn on their own
The world scorns with much hate
Then play victim of their own rage
Standing among the spiritually blind
Troubles and heartache are all we find
A message of love, mercy and grace
While faithfully trying to run our race
Yes we must declare to the lost
Judgment comes at a cost
Scorned by many, we stand alone
Praying for help from Heavens throne
Yes the journey becomes so weary
Troubles, strife and much misery
If the world could only see
Jesus wants to set them free
When my life on earth is done
I pray the race, I faithfully run
Staying faithful till the end
A faithful servant I have been
