Perpetual Dusk

Darkness opens its maw
Peering into this nonentity
It begins to enfold and consume me
Into a deep introverted misery
Ingested to an aloof center set
A life commences bemused heavily
Sallow in a hopeless zeal
Eluding the relishing light of aspiration
Waiting at sanity’s locked gates
Bawling for an echo of help
Stillness…ever waiting
For an omen, one sign
The voice of chance
Grasping a splintered belief
An exit exists to salvation
Cindering confidence blowing
The journey to discern
What so many have mislaid
Reaching for liberation
Tearing through the walls
Prying with bloodied fingers
This quest ever persevering
Until dusks minions
Come to me no more
