this teacher blandished me with generously gushy glowing
beguiling over-the-top compliments.
I pretended to not like it.
Returned ten minutes later to receive more.
Hearing her lavish the exact praise on my arch enemy.
Word for word including “You should be homecoming queen”.
Surely that was not to be a shared honor.
Right?
