People Light and People Dark Why can’t we learn from the animals; There are kittens light, kittens dark and calico. They play and fight and cuddle but know That with their gray mom is where they all safely go. Why can’t we be like we are in fact, Light faces, dark ones, and all in between. Hope my neighbor still speaks to me, for I am olive, she is cream. Soft spoken or loud in a crowd to be heard Lasts not long to conditioned ears. Why do people light and people dark Still cling to divisions throughout all these years. After all this time, we wonder of mind Who’s smarter, who’s braver, whom can we trust, How can we know by just colors of skin, What love may hide beneath that smiling crust. ‘Cause after all, God made us all.
