Penny For the Guy
Penny for the Guy
Once the was a man called Guy Fawkes
Who wanted to blow up Government in the gun powder plot
Along with his pals, this they really meant
But was caught and had his punishment
And now we celebrate that he did not
So that his plot would not be forgot
This we do with Fireworks so loud and bright
To remember what could have happened that night
These are some that light up the night
A Rocket up to the sky to light with colour bright
And Catherine Wheels that go round and round
With many a Cracker Jack that makes us deaf with the sound
Bonfires we do have now on which is burn effigies of dear old Guy
Made from straw and any old clothes who is placed on the top of the fire
Though these do make much smoke,
All of which would have happened if he had his way
There we will place potatoes in jackets and get our Hot Chestnuts
And light the Sparkler for us to hold and wave about
To remember all that could have been that night
When they tried to do that terrible deed
So we will never forget that Guy
That why we remember, remember the 5th of November
