Penny Candy

Penny candy once was a penny Back when I was just a little pat I'd run to the local grocery store Where the gumball machine was at! My eyes were so wide with excitement I thought they would pop from their socket That was a penny I couldn't keep long Or it'd burn a hole in my pocket! I put in my cent, and turned the knob Fastly glued to the chute I'd become If I was lucky and it was striped I got a whole nickels worth of gum! That happened once and I was amazed Five pieces of gum for a penny What things could happen better than that? Back then I could not think of any!

I can envision the child Pat and he's cute and likes funny rhyming Dr. Seuss books. Cute story here. I too remember penny gumball machines. What now to do with pennies? Thanks for the memories. Great write.
