Pearl Of The Orient
The Philippines, with its strategic location
at the crossroads of the Pacific Ocean,
and the South China Sea,
is the Pearl of the Orient,
the nickname used to describe
the country since the early 20th century,
represents a profound appreciation
for what makes the Philippines so unique.
The moniker is a telling testament
to the country's singular distinctive qualities,
making it a gem in the region.
The island country of beautiful white-sand beaches,
spectacular landscapes of majestic mountains,
enchanting waterfalls, and verdant flourishing forests,
takes one’s breath away.
The iconic destinations of Palawan, Boracay,
and the Chocolate Hills in Bohol,
of over 1,000 hills, turning amazingly brown
during the onset of the dry season,
giving them a variegated tawny tinge,
contribute to the Philippines' reputation
as a fascinating tropical paradise.
The magnificent view of the renowned Bay Street Sunset,
earned for Manila the epithet, Pearl of the Seas.
The country’s captivating landscape of 7000 islands,
the treasure trove of minerals, forests, and wildlife,
displays an impressive array of diversity,
from the towering mountains to the sparkling sapphire sea.
The Batad Rice Terraces in Ifugo attracts,
as one of UNESCO’s wonders of the world,
the stunning landmark of rice terraces,
carved meticulously in the mountain slopes.
The country’s rich cultural history and heritage,
traced back to the pre-colonial era,
depicts various aspects of indigenous tribes
of assorted traditions and customs,
thriving in different parts of the archipelago.
Festivals like Sinulog, Ati-Atihan, and Pahiyas
showcase the country's exuberant spirit,
and the deep-rooted ancient traditions.
With its matchless picturesque landscapes,
and distinctive vibrant cultural traditions,
exuding the captivating unique charm,
the archipelago is a jewel in the crown of the orient.
