Peanut Farmer Charmer

Mr. Jimmy Carter was a peanut farmer
When he smiled, he was quite a charmer

He'd grin and say that whenever he was feeling down
He'd take up a noble cause -- THAT would never let him down

                  February 03, 2019
Inspired by Line Gauthier's "Something Bigger than Myself" contest
-- but not a contest entry

He has a heart and a conscience; something that seems to be lacking in D.C., these days. Good luck in the contest.

I like that phrase, 'seems to be.' You are courteous to a fault! Thanks, M.L.

I admire Jimmy Carter, both for his presidency and for what he's done after - a kind, gentle, giving person!

His Habitat for Humanity, which I think he and his wife started, is one of the finest charities in the world. I believe that he was still participating actively, as in doing some carpentry, at age 91. Amazing. Thanks for commenting, Michelle. :)

Hi Gershon, This is a good entry for the contest theme. I like Jimmy Carter. He is the oldest living former president right? I wish you the best of luck in the contest:-) Alexis

Thank you so much for you encouraging comment and for your support, Alexis... I had to withdraw this clerihew from the contest, as free verse is one of the requirements that Line Gauthier set... But I'm happy you liked it, and J.C. is the oldest living President now. :) gw
