PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY

       turkeys are gobbling
   up laughter as prices rise
thankful for the heat
   off their guard, bag their giblets,
      the axe only pardons two

I saw a turkey that was supposedly pardoned -- on a plate in a restaurant named "Olive Garden." ... Cute tanka, Kim. (Your tankas are the best, you know). :) gw

From Wikipedia: For many years the turkeys were sent to Frying Pan Farm Park in Fairfax County, Virginia. From 2005 to 2009, the pardoned turkeys were sent to either the Disneyland Resort in California or the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, where they served as the honorary grand marshals of Disney's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The President pardons a couple turkeys so they do not become a Thanksgiving meal. These two are named Peanut Butter & Jelly! This is a combo sandwich that especially kids eat.
