Peace On Earth

I cannot say why peace on Earth
Is found to be elusive
The benefits of choosing such
Are factually conclusive

The calm inside a mother’s womb
Is where we learn to dream
The tender heart, though very soft
Does not provide the cream

The suckle born of mother's milk
Befits a Prince of Peace
The promise of the Shepherd's fold
Presumes a golden fleece

The saddest cry, that tugs a heart
Is more than just a flow
It cannot swell a mountain stream
Until we let it go

The morning mist is gentle
For the dew that feeds the clover
It nurtures all and then recedes
Before the day is over

The moon provides a friendly glow
Of shadows on the wall
They ebb and flow, but when they go
They leave without a squall

The cat that naps without a care
Emits the perfect sound
The comfort of the master's bed
Is easy on the ground

The morning paints the flower beds
In welcome rays of sun
They break the day a joyful way
In warmth for everyone

The creatures that are small and meek
Are not so big and vain
They seek the shelter of the earth
The rhythm of the rain

The quality of life is such
That peace befits the heart
The calming voice of sanity
Is true by nature’s part.

You sure went wild with metaphors in this one, Bryan. I do wish you had a huge following because I think you are a pretty great poet here!! I am glad you looked me up and gave me such a nice comment. I had not realized how busy you have been here recently. Keep up the golden pen, my friend. (also, I love the way you summed this poem up at the end)

Hi Andrea, Wow, if you think I am a pretty great poet, that means a lot to me. This is one of those where I take a lot of poetic license. As long as it flows nicely, people can provide their own interpretation. At this point, I'm not going to have a huge following, but, hey, I got four comments here rather than my ususal 0 to 2 comments, so I guess that's good!

WoW! Bryan, You have penned another good write on peace. Each stanza is well written and uplifting—excellent content and rhymes. I long for Peace on earth for us all. You do rhyme very well; they are not forced, they’re effortless. Have a wonderful day;-) Alexis
