Peace

Hello Mr. Peace, my friend How timely on your part Nobody else can bring to me The joy that you impart You’ve been a perfect gentleman Since I was just a boy Please come on in and have a seat And do as you enjoy I think you know that Mr. Reece Our neighbor, passed away He argued with his only son Who left just yesterday I know he never knew you well But still, he left behind A loving wife named Sally G The true and loving kind She told me once, that Mr. Reece Was not a bitter man But when you lose your livelihood You do the best you can For thirty years of making clocks He built them with precision Never thinking of himself Or facing that decision When the factory closed for good He couldn’t face the day But Sally G, was more content To have him anyway His daughter said, that Mr. Reece Was driven to succeed He didn’t know, or understand That love is all you need For love is like the captive heart That beats upon release It learns the trade of joyfulness That builds a perfect peace In moments of my deep despair You were my company I never called your name out loud But you were there for me My parents died, so long ago And though our needs were few You cared for us, like family And yes, we loved you too I wish you could be everywhere In fact, I know you are For you are like, the comfort light That shines in every star.

WoW! Bryan, You have penned such a well-written poem on peace. I like how you personalized peace. Like “ he” was a friend and neighbor. Is Mr. Reece a real man? I, too, want everyone to experience such peace—good content and rhymes. Excellent job. I'm adding this to my fav collection. Have a good evening-Alexis

Thanks, Alexis. When I read your previous comment, I really did feel moved to write about peace, so thanks again for reading and commenting. No, Mr. Reece is not somebody I know, but I suppose he is not uncommon, universally. Thanks again, Bryan
