Payoff

If you get injured, what’s the price To help assuage your pain? Do lawyers factor in how much You whimper or complain? Of course there are the doctor bills And days you couldn’t work Or drive or shop or do the chores You’d never think to shirk. They even take into account, With formulas complex, What’s owed to someone if An injured spouse cannot have sex. No matter what the payoff is, I’m sure each wounded soul Would gladly give up all that cash To once again be whole.

Ilene - That third stanza is a killer. I dropped an iron on my toe (the only use I've had for it). May I sue Sunbeam? love, Kathy

Reminds me of all those TV commercials from lawyers that we see during daytime television. Another good write, Ilene.

What a great message you have in this poem. I was in a bloody auto accident a while ago. I won some money in a settlement. I still wish I had not been in the accident - although surprisingly enough money is quite helpful. I hope you and yours are well. Do you celebrate Purim? Do you like Tolkien? Peace & Love B'Shalom Matthew Anish
