Pathways and Light

All dark, foreboding pathways seek out light,
though shadowed, bleak, mysterious and long.
Does not bright day cede all its fire at night,
and seeing this confirms that both belong?

From blazing sun we often need escape
to waters cool, or sheltered place of rest.
Does not the night unfold its shrouded cape
to wear, and with it feel we're safe and blessed?

The journey of a day through dark and light,
has great extremes and we need find a way
to balance both so we might stand upright,
lest all through life our doubts would win the day.

We live in both worlds hoping they bestow,
clear paths through darkest night and sunlight's glow.

Very moving! I volunteer at a local Mission where I come in contact with addiction. I also grew up in a home inflicted with addiction an abuse so this topic is near and dear to me. God transforms lives and it appears you are evidence of that truth.

Richard, years ago I met a pastor from Washington St. that wrote a book about his clinical depression. It was based on the 23rd Psalm. breaking it all down into verses and phrases. He told me that when you are at your lowest ebb, the darkness is seeking out light. I believe that! Thanks, again

Thanks, Jan. Lots of times I just have to step out of the shadow to be warmed by the light!
