Pathways

Ways of life, pathways we take,
Follow the right way or is it wrong?
Can there even be a way to make a mistake?
Should we write a poem or pen a song?

Ways of life, routes that we choose
Sit back and wait, be a go-getter?
Is it possible to win? Can we lose?
Could we have taken a way that’s better?

Husband or wife? Continuous travel?
Housewife at home? Pursue a career?
The paths like knotted string start to unravel
Sometimes the way we go isn’t clear.

We may not think that we have a choice,
Some find others are calling the tune,
Others are not free their ideas to voice
Some chosen pathways can end too soon.

Ways of life, pathways we take
Follow the right way or is it wrong
Can there even be a way to make a mistake
Should we write a poem or pen a song?
