Path To Wisdom

The path to wisdom is through the ears not the mouth
It's when you choose to speak that it all goes south
If you seek knowledge through power
It is an illusion merely designed to make others cower
And the end result is a sanctimonious soul
Forever fractured and painted black like coal
The path to enlightenment is paved with sacrifice and tears
And you will surely be tested by all of your fears
All paths lead to salvation as if they were the roads to Rome
You just have to have strength to make it home
It is the small quiet moments when nobody else is around
That the real you can finally be found
When you think nobody is looking are your morals still real
Or did you convince yourself you forgot how to feel
Your life might be a highway littered with mistakes
But that is no reason to put your foot on the brakes
Knowledge is born in the mind, compassion is born in the heart
To live without one or the other is to slowly fall apart
You could be damned a thousand times but still be saved
By those who braved the storm and paved
A road to righteousness that you don't have to walk alone
And with head held high you listen and show you've grown
For the path to wisdom is through the ears not the mouth
But no longer does it mean when you speak it all goes south

Hello Christopher, what a profound reflection on the journey towards enlightenment and self-discovery. Your words write of true wisdom which is found not in the words we speak, but in the moments of quiet introspection and the strength to confront our fears and imperfections. I loved the imagery you use, from the roads to Rome to the highways of our lives, the challenges and triumphs we encounter on our path. Your message of compassion, resilience, and the importance of listening speaks volumes. A thought-provoking and inspiring piece.- Blessings, Daniel
