Pastel Skies
It was a pastel sky
a merging of blues and purple pinks.
No wind, no rain, a chilly dusk
following a day of soft, quiet snow
heavy with the moisture of what would be rain.
A gray white ashen silver day
fading into misty hued night.
Rainbow sky jarred suddenly awake
with colored blossomed blush
painting the horizon sunset.
Cool blues, arctic, azure, cerulean heaven
washed in a Caribbean rouge taffy rose pinks.
Soft lines etched in waves and folds
south to north west driftings
as the sun blazes gold and deepening peach.
Still and silent, melon apricot dreams
slip in bold yet silent into oncoming cloak of night.
Purple thistle mauve berry hushed sky
falls dark eventide embracing the trees
then surrendering into night fast asleep.
