Past Times 4

A football *memory
Just like this sport I am very old
so if I may be so bold
this memory I'll unfold

each day,when school was out
off to a green,hereabout-
the teams often numbered seventeen!

with our jumpers as posts,
no boots ,referee or
coaches ,you'd see

back and forth we'd be
'til tired out,and ready for tea

*you call it soccer over the pond

I bet you have so many wonderful memories. yes, soccer so different from American football, a sport which I detest for the way it screws up our players' brains!!

Sounds like fun! Sure is good when sports tire you and you earn your rest!

I can remember participating in baseball games like that as a child. It was a lot of fun. Your poem has excellent flow and rhyme. :)

And also known as "The Beautiful Game" - Except for the Hooligans off and sometimes on the pitch ! Great to see your inventive pen still flows , Sir Brian ..

Ya'll must have some tough feet over there. LOL.. So many young people play different kinds of sports over here as well. It seems to just come natural with youth. I never was one to play because I would feel funny when I tried to play and would stop soon after starting. I nor my parents knew that I have a hole in my heart at that time. Both of my parents had passed before I learned that I had such a problem. I enjoy reading your comments on my work. It adds a great dimension to the page. Sara
