Past the Known

Deep in memory
   lie
the politics of another era
The past has a hold on us
  which cannot be shaken off
very easily
The years have confirmed for us
that we are in the maelstrom
The maelstrom, The maelstrom where one experiences
   the pain
which time inflicts on all of us
That maelstrom where the fate of man is being forged
