Past lyrics change

Notes from our childhood flow through the car
As once forgotten memories come alive
with each voice that joins
A song meant to bring back simpler times
As smiles fill the car
Lyrics only broken by laughter
When we get them wrong
Our eyes shining in the street lights
Catching the light just right

But that shine is just a fight
Against tears yet to be shed
As we pretend not to look back at the place our grandma lies
Wishing we could hold her hand
Just one last time
