Notes About The Poem

Image result for pictures of giant red oaks tasseling in the springI was sent a letter by State Farm insurance company that I had until July 10 to replace my roof or they would terminate my homeowners insurance. My husband and I had talked about it back before he died but my mind had not been on replacing a roof, but I was aware that I needed to soon get someone in to give me a price. I resent the insurance company telling me that I had to replace my roof in only 4 1/2 months time. I needed to get the tree down before they did the roof because the huge tree was causing moss to grown on the roof, the leaves and debris were getting in the gutters, etc.

Past Its Prime JU

The sixty-two year old oak Green tassels spring evokes Tree removal company Cut first limb clumsily The fall to earth like my tears Was totally unawares A reminder there's a time When all living gets past prime

I have a tree that needs to come down too. Going to replace it with a smaller tree. Sorry to read about this unfortunate experience. Congrats on your placement.

Oh Sara... this was very touching, but you are right, every living thing that is lucky enough to age, will age past prime. Congratulations on your placement in my contest. Thank you for entering... Charlie

Thank you, Linda. Yes, the yard is not the same with it down waiting for someone to come get the large pieces and trunk to take to a sawmill. Sara K

I had a liquid amber that got sick and had to be cut down so it wouldn't fall, so I know the feeling!

Yes, I am still upset but I think it had reached the time that it was beginning to die. So much danger of one coming down during wind and hit something it is not supposed to hit. Thanks for stopping by. Sara K

Profound and bittersweet. Trees are like old friends. It's sad to lose them

Yes, Andrea, it was like a friend who did some services for me as making it cooler in the summer, blocking some sound when we have all the noise next door, etc. I will have to plant another tree to help improve on those things as spring opens on up. Your visits always are uplifting. Sara K
