Particle Accelerator

Standing and waiting, standing and waiting, For the imminent end, Or the beginning, however you take it. The copper coils charge rapidly. Waiting and praying, waiting and praying, That all turns out well. I know how this goes, but hope I’m wrong. The field flings the particles around the tube. Praying and crying, praying and crying, Crying for myself, But it’s not me I should cry for. The protons rush past my face. Crying and knowing, crying and knowing, There’s nowhere to leave to. This is all, all is here, right in front of me. Matter is pulled around the vacuum. Knowing and accepting, knowing and accepting, Fate has a funny way Of throwing you a curveball at the worst time. Eleven thousand laps, coming to a close. Accepting and clearing, accepting and clearing, Worries from my mind. After all, this was a conscious choice. Light speed force, oblivious to their nearing demise. Clearing and standing, clearing and standing, In front of the beautiful power. A once-in-a-lifetime sight, no words to describe it. Mute, I watch the screeching afterimages. Strapped to the target, I’m thrown into the fray, And closing my eyes, the mass collides, An explosion powerful enough to start a universe, A hurricane of new discovery. A life for knowledge, Knowledge of life.
