Part Time Poet
Just a part-time poet am I.
Enough spare moments I’ve not got,
so other things must occupy
my time, and those things are a lot!
Though poetry so pleasures me,
just a part-time poet am I.
My duties call. I can’t be free
of errands. . . my job. . .housework. Sigh!
To do things till the day I die
that are not fun can be a pain.
Just a part-time poet am I,
for obligations fall like rain.
They pound on me; I cannot sit
to write all day though times I try!
Since there is no money in it,
just a part-time poet am I!
