Paris the 13th Tears, my tears fall to wine As I can not comprehend this horrendous crime Men filled with such spiteful hate Islamic teachings seal their fate Kill and slaughter love and smiles How I pray tell does this bring about Any compassion of heart, have they no guile? I have walked along those Parisian streets Filled with history and diversity, such a feat Hand in hand, people from so many lands Dressed in darkness, blacks and grays The massacre dancing in premonitions sway Crusaders never win, for love will take its stand Hundreds taken from Jesus hands For nothing more than celebrating their great lands Food and drink and lovers smiles Stolen this night by hateful bile We shall rise again, defend and stand Our blood may flow in the river seine However in the end its you, who is insane We shall defend our liberty Even if we hang evil from the tree Père Lachaise has brought me tears Such history over all the years Yet here I am faced to visit once again Paying respect to those dying in vain My heart is fraught, with you till eternity Liberté, égalité, fraternité Notes: Pere Lachaise is a famous cemetery in Paris Liberté, égalité, fraternité is the motto of France

What a fine tribute to the tragedy occurring in France. Well composed with fine rhyme and smooth flow. I like you sane/seine rhyme especially. You have done Paris proud. BRAVO Arthur!

Congrats on POTD very nicely penned, although subject matter is horrific. The wicked will be no more, you will look for them and they will not be there, psalm 37. Look forward to that time.JDH

Thank you John, yes such a tragic event, one of so many, that hopefully the world will see that many suffer the world over and we should not turn a blind eye!

Arthur, this heartfelt poem that brings me to sadness.. =`( nowadays it seems lots and lots are taking for granted the value of life and peace... I despise those who did these crimes but more I pity them because they have missed so much about life... I am sorry for the lost lives and I can only pray that such will never happen again.. I also do my way: my role to be an example to youth and to still send messages of love to others.. They are more the blinds and deafs...~Olive Eloisa

My heart will never understand, the kind of hatred and evil it takes to kill innocent people in the name of God. I pray for peace, Arthur. Thank you for sharing this...hugs, Rhonda

So well said, and I might add, I am sure all Christians, Jews, Muslims and all others echo the same sentiments!

This is a very sad news my friend I hope peace prevail paris, Nigeria and others. Those barbaric are not religious. They're not muslim at all, but cover their face with a feign of veil of an emblem of religion. This cruel deed also happen in some areas in Nigeria, killing innocence with bomb, gun, etc. Whereas, they slaughter both M and C. The solution is to look up to GOD to wipe out them for us. A well written piece............A.M.

Paris is such a beautiful city with generous people. It is appalling to think of the pain and suffering transpiring. Your poem is a beautiful tribute Arthur. I too have visited this city of lights twice and I hope to one day visit again. Blessings to all of them.
