Paranoid Delusions

Beelzebub arrived between the christmas lights strung inside my dorm,
Buzzing on my walls and brain to display what he must warn.

Voices scream inside my head when no one is around,
Dragging me deeper into my mind where I'll be lost and unfound.

Falling with legs above my head into an endless pit of black,
As electric currents shock my spine and ride along my tensing back.

My breath has become the only sign that I am alive,
As cirrus shadows swirl in smoke poured from a hornet's hive.

The shaking nest rocks back and forth before me on a fishing rod,
Spitting out the stinging insects who laugh at thoughts of god.

In and around my head they go, zapping my unzipped dendrites,
Picking and pricking my epidermis as cortisol calls my inner flight.

I cannot fight for I've lost my might that I've let spill from a mason jar,
Out it poured and what filled in its place was a heavy goo of fearful tar.

Heavier and heavier I sink to the floor as the tar in the jar does settle,
And my brain is bombarded with sound from the steam of a blowing kettle.

"Where is that damned kettle," I beg from an empty space that offered to help,
I'm trapped and overstimulated with no one around to hear me as I yelp.

Faces of Keebler elves appear on the walls and laugh with greedy grins,
Spread across their chubby cheeks that bounce atop their long pointed chins.

As the laughing and cackling wallpaper spits and spews some insulting news,
The wifi slaps my wrists in wispy waves of nano-soldiers marching two by two.

It sucks me into the internet where my neurons have been displaced,
Now I'm a refugee left in an IP address which cannot by me be traced.

Welcome to the carousel of cranial overactivity which round inside me goes,
A parade of paranoid delusions galloping along to whatever the wind will blow.
