Many many years have passed by
She sits alone and reminisces
Reading the diary from when they first met
Recalling the memories from so long ago
She remembers back to her wedding day
Orange blossoms intertwined in her hair
Sweet scented gardenias in her bouquet
Her handsome groom standing at the alter
How she would love to go back
To those halcyon days gone by
When her husband was still alive
Not just a memory in her mind's eye
He fought for king and country
To give others a better life
Now he resides in paradise
And in the heart of his lonely wife
