When you surrender to love,
passion erupts into flame.
And desire won't be ignored,
despite fear of pain or shame.
A screwed-up reality
isn't easy to understand.
But you're willing to gamble;
blind to what fate holds in hand.
Following feelings of bliss,
you chase love's elusive spark.
And yet, in fantasy's realm,
innocence feeds off the dark.
The feeling of betrayal
devastates a trusting heart.
And white lies, stripped of luster,
tear your paper dreams apart.
Sometimes, love seems to offer
more to reject than embrace.
But then, hope carries you off
to another, better place.
