Paint the Sky

I've come a long way and I haven't came to die
Giving up isn't an option no matter how many scars I gain tonight
My wounds will heal and the rain will dry
But I'm still walking through the storm and trying to paint the sky

The sun isn't shining, but maybe I can make it seem so
I might not be the new J.K Rowling but at least I can read though
You'll finish the race no matter how slow your feet go
Sometimes it's the side kick not main star who makes it a complete show

You have the type of life someone else is dreaming of
I'm wiping mud off my clothes from a fall but someone else is Cleaning blood
I miss an ex, but somewhere a mother is getting a call to go identity a body, as it may be her child
Perspective is all you need to make it to the next mile

I met a great girl on my worst day
She called me to arrange the first date
We may have broken up, but they're some memories I'll never forget
Instead of focusing on how tired you are, look at the energy that you've kept

They say every time someone dies a child is born
I guess that means for every marriage, there's a divorce soon after
But every story that closes, just makes room for a new chapter
Sometimes the best pages in a book become torn

I've come a long way and I haven't came to die
Giving up isn't an option no matter how many scars I gain tonight
My wounds will heal and the rain will dry
But I'm still walking through the storm and trying to paint the sky
