Pages From LA
cruising down Figueroa Street
at two in the morning on a Saturday
can mirror the Garden of Eden
strawberries instead of apples
some dipped in chocolate
hanging from forbidden corners
images of fame slither and hiss
then disappear like steam through your fingers
returning only if you're still willing
trying to grow old can be harder
than picking up a Chevy
though some swear by the white lines
to give them the strength they need
off in the distance stars shine and glitter
from lofty hills, from sacred pavement
