OWLS

Out n’ out predators, Observant with wide eyes, Ogre like, tear up prey. Oviparous they are. Ornithologist’s pets. Ousted as ill omen.

A late congratulations on your winning work. They are awesome birds. Farmers kill them sometimes because they will eat their baby chicks, ducks, etc. They are so beautiful, silent in their movements, and interesting. Thanks for sharing this one. Sara K

I saw owls only once in England, all in a large solid cage. Your Pleiades are outstanding. You did well.

We have them in our area, I have always appreciated them helping to keep down the mice population. Lately we have had a lot of stray cats running around the neighborhood and though I'm really happy the rodent population is dwindling; I worry about those cats. I do hope the owls do not eat cats?! I have been trying to coax one poor kitty into my house, he is such a sweetie, he has chosen my yard for his home. Your poem alarms me, now I REALLY want to get that cat into the safety of my home!

Have only seen two in the wild and that was on the way to work at 04.00 in the morning. Beautiful birds though. Happy New year to you and your family Valsa. Tom
