Overwhelming World
I want to run away
Run away from the problems I face
It's easier than to confront them headstrong
Don't compare me to another
Not even yourself
This is the world we live in
A society that creates status based on merit
A society of status determined by wealth
Laws created by greedy people
Governments who silently attack
Oppression across the globe
First world countries in ignorant bliss
My hands aren't clean in this world
The human race is in perilous times
It's reached a point of no return
But the problems I face
How do I change any of this?
How do I leave this world?
What is life like when the world is a commodity?
I do my best to forget about it
But that doesn't change anything
The fact is I'm insignificant in a world
Determined by status created by achievement
In a world of income classism
I have tried ending it myself
Driving down a highway seventy miles per hour
Purposeful turning to crash and roll
Yet here I am, unscathed and forced
To live in a world that shuns those actions
Even when my reasoning is just
Yet how just is it to live in my bubble
When millions across the globe cannot live the comfortable life I have
The choice to end my own life is a privilege I take for granted
Many don't have the chance to live
Yet here I am choosing to take mine.
