Overcoming Mistakes

I tell myself,
There is nothing worse
Then having a sinking
Ashamed and guilty feeling.
I wonder if I’m all alone

That

I've blundered,
I’ve offended someone's thunder,
Sometimes had no clue
When I didn't mean to.

Well, I talk about it,
Talk about it
Preserved in my memory moreover
Repeating itself over and over.

Gotta move on,
Have to let go,
The shame and guilt.
Gotta move on
Learn and grow from it,
Have to forgive myself.

Appreciate for whom I am.
I have to remember;
It wasn't on purpose.
If someone else had done this,
I would forgive them
There is always the next time
And a new chance to get things right.

Next time,

I'll see that mistake coming
And do something to miss it.
I'll plan ahead better,
I'll pay more attention at the moment,
I'll spend more time thinking things through.
I'll stop and question my own assumptions.
I'll take the time to gather more information.

This perfectly expresses a (perhaps familiar) immortal rule: "In life you either win, or you learn". Thank you for this motivational piece, Eve!

You are a good and caring woman, Eve! We all make mistakes, but not everybody is ready to admit them. Like you, I believe that I've learned from them, and hopefully will avoid them in future. Best regards & Hugs // paul
