Outing Poetry
I'm here to bust wide open
The hidden world of poetry
Some of the things I've witnessed
Most of the things I've seen
It goes deep beyond measure
Even deeper than I fear
In the laughter of its rhythm
Through the rhyming of its tears
When you take poetry to the heart
Like a literary worm it burrows deep
Listen close when I say it's so
I know cause it's happened to me
Where it works it's way into the brain
So it's all you think about
Listen my friends as I tell you all this
Beyond a shadow of a doubt
I'm not trying to say to stay away
Just a warning to be mindful
In this day and age that's so close to the edge
It never hurts to be extra careful
While some may call me a traitor
Letting go secrets that shouldn't be known
I'm standing strong and refuse to run
I just felt you should be warned...
