Our Polluted Earth
I pondered what I could write of
As I looked around this world,
For everywhere I looked I saw
Wrong things get done by man.
Big banks…like men… display their greeds,
And polluters still pollute,
Police brutality still shows
On streets we all walk on.
And murderers keep taking lives,
Be it women, children, men
And guns appear where guns are not
Even supposed to be.
Racism should be in the next
Olympics, wherever run,
So it can be defeated too…
Never be known again.
Covid-19 is just the start
Of diseases yet to come
That will affect our animals
And fruits that grow on trees.
And if we let Covid mutate,
Could it get in oceans’ fish…
Get in our waters… even in
The waters that we drink?
Our plastic bottles we throw out
Get dumped into our oceans,
As plastic fibers from washed clothes,
So very tiny threads.
Oh, my, the things that we observe
When we in truth look to see,
Without sunglasses in daylight
Or by a silver moon.
We love our earth, or so we say,
But, Earth knows well what we do
To it and all that makes it up
As we live life each day.
The wrongs and sins that all men do,
Run wildly through them daily,
Like emmets running “round” their nests
All work and little play.
From kings and queens, on to the pope,
Factory owners belching smokes,
Jet pilots, sailors, car drivers,
We all must bear some blame
For pollutions that we all put
Into the earth every day…
And mother earth will one day shout
Out loud… “enough ‘s enough”.
America for long time now
Has changed its “In God We Trust”…
To “In Us We Trust”, fallen down…
Can’t lift itself back up!
