Notes About The Poem

Our Halloween Devil-Cat

On Halloween- so many years ago,
our grandkids had a pet named Georgie cat;
   a sweet Tuxedo cat for sure, although-
could offer soothing purrs or claws combat!

   Kids dressed him up in a red-devil suit-
were so surprised he did not hiss or stir.
   Just slight annoyance on his face, so cute;
to dressing up, he sweetly did defer.

   The glare within his gold-green starring eyes
so much enhanced his red-horned costume, that
   our Georgie with his Halloween disguise
became our holiday's much-loved black cat.

   But now, in heaven- where dear kitties go,
we're left with memories- and one photo.
   As Georgie angel purrs neath halo-glow,
we smile- remembering his devil show.

What a lovely memory of Georgie, Sandra. He must have been very calm to allow you to put the devil costume on him. Sorry he is gone now. Your poem, however, reads like a winner to me! Hugs, carolyn
