Our end did not come unannounced

Our end did not come unannounced, I had a premonition when you started to slip away Into the quiet distances, choking off any possible growth. Ours had been a game, a waltz where missteps spoke their part, My great sorrow was the pain, not letting me lose you, though you were gone. In your eyes, I saw the despair speaking bluntly to your face, Your voice always telling me how much space you desired, I knew that leaving was your final act, But the chaos within me would not let me accept the truth That all our reconciliations, after fierce fights, were but a mere abduction. And yet I realized you were only a habit, Painful to say, but so true and raw, My hopes clashed with the foolish thought That someone like you could ever be reclaimed. But the more I entangled myself in the web of empty promises, The deeper I fell into the trap, lost in these wandering rhythms. Your hollow promises, "I can't live without you," And nights spent crying like a child rendered me immovable, No, they were no longer worth even an hour of endless time. Now silence wraps around me like a final, secure blanket, Freed from seeing you in the dawns that seek and chase me. And like a bird from its cage, I fly towards unknown skies, Leaving behind the smoke of a love that took everything from me but also taught me That some paths are not meant to be followed, and some destinies – not to be bound.
