Author's Notes:  This poem, entitled:  "Our Cosmic Existence" is set in a Terza Rima format.  This poem represents a deep-dive into the complexity of existential and spiritual thought in relation to our human view and interpretation what may actually lie beyond the great outreaches of the Universe (or Cosmos) as each of us later as "soul beings" move beyond the mortal coil of this life as we seek oneness with our God and move toward eternity into the light.  This was a co-written effort with my wife Ingrid who possesses a strong and robust knowledge of cosmic awareness and understanding.  May you enjoy this write!!  (Gary Bateman and Ingrid Krukenberg-Bateman, A Collaborated Poem - May 1, 2015) (Terza Rima)

Our Cosmic Existence We think what we know but the key confusion is always there, When we ponder situations or events that have such high import, And what we're used to dealing with daily at times on a mere dare. In this cosmic realm what we don’t know we must try to purport, Significant because of the infinite nature of deep dark outer space, Which points toward an existential dichotomy of a most special sort. Our knowledge of what we don’t know is of such an infinite pace, Confounding whole the mortal complexity of a cosmic coldness, And defying our very consciousness in the monotony of dark space. We must confront our cosmic existence with such confident boldness, While calculating what we know and don’t—without any hint of fear, And seek a God-given azimuth beyond this aura of a fearful coldness. Our cosmic existence lies in God’s light beyond this darkness and fear, Meaning we must reach out beyond our mortal state in an aura of grace, With our thoughts, our hearts, and our feelings so God can make all clear. We can pursue this ethereal challenge now living in our human race, While realizing we must reach out with God’s help to find this light, And prepare one day for our mortal transition beyond to God’s place. Our cosmic existence then is the two-way effort that we must get right, As we seek out and find our way to Him spiritually beyond our short life; Confident in our trek through a pathless land toward eternity into the light. Thanks so much Dear Friend "D"!! We both appreciate the 7+ rating and your review of our collaborated work on "Our Cosmic Destiny." This one turned out to be a quite interesting write in the end. The Terza Rima seemed like the best vehicle for expressing this particular theme. Thanks Again "D"!! Best Wishes, Gary and Ingrid

Sara, Thanks so much. I really need to read more of your poetry too. I found the last one I read concerning Jesus to be very positive and most uplifting. I know that working with my wife Ingrid on some select poems we did together certainly helped me when we were dealing with subjects that had a moral and spiritual import. (I am so glad the pressure of my recent book work is behind me. Feb thru 9 Apr was so busy!!) We will talk again soon!! Best Wishes!! Gary

Hello Laura!! Thanks for your visit and read here on our collaborated poem here. The topic does give one much to think about. We thought the Terza Rima was great vehicle for carrying our message. BTW, I just returned to PS over the last week or so from a two-month break while I finished up my new book of poetry "Conversations with My Muse," which was just released to the public on 9 April. Thanks Laura!! Best!! Gary

Hi, Gary, The vastness of the cosmos does not bother me because God is as close as prayer. I seek and find God in prayer and there is no distance between us. God's universe is so beautiful and I am in awe of it. Have you checked out the Hubble telescope online? There are over 100 views of what is over our heads! Absolutely fantastic what is out there. Blessings, Darlene

Hello Darlene, Great to hear from you!! Ingrid and I certainly agree 100% with your comment here. We too are in total awe of the God's universe. We certainly don't fear it at all, but rather we embrace it in its totality. God is certainly as close as a prayer. We agree. Hope all is well with you. Must drop by to see your latest works!! Best!! So true...a deep poem about the truths, of which, we are made and to which, we must return.
