Orphan Bunny

Orphan Bunny
with long black ears
and two button eyes
sits on our bedroom
chest
staring at the world
in wonderment

I found her
some time ago
at a tag sale
amongst once loved,
broken and then
soon to be abandoned
dolls

communicating to
each passersby
in her home made
cotton jumpsuit
made of once loved
and reused materials
in her loneliness
or was it mine

her hand sewn red
tread lips
shaped in two v
stitches for
simplify
speaks not of wars,
killings or hate
but in the silence
of
peace, love and
family
and of an orphaned
world
